My Ashton Boy

I wanted to take a day and write about my kids, so Ashton is today and Annika will be soon.  So, this is my boy.  He is getting huge.  He has already been to nursery, for 1 week and he did great.  They let him come in a few weeks early because the nursery leader felt bad that I was always in the hall walking with him.  He has learned to moo like a cow, quack like a duck, and roar like a lion and a dinosaur.  HE LOVES DOGS!!  Every time he sees or hears one, he yells "Goo, Goo, Goo, Goo, Goo".  That is dog in Ashton language.  It is hilarious.  He gets  a silly grin on his face if he gets to pet them.  He loves to say mom, dad, bath, dog (of course), please (it is really more spitting than saying please, but I know what it means and many more words.  He loves to snuggle with blankets, and loves to scream and chase his dad and sister.  He has some lungs.  The other day, I managed to get the bike and kid trailer out of the storage closet, assemble the trailer and haul those two things, the two kids and a picnic lunch down the stairs.  We were off to have some fun at a park.  Except, we stopped after not too long, and I let the kids play, before we went to a farther park.  Next thing you know Ashton is screaming, he bonked his head and it started getting bigger, fast.  I was nervous, and thought we better head home.  That is the bonk on the right side of the photo.  It is a little hard to see and it had gone down by the time I got the picture, but it was HUGE, trust me.  The whole way home, Annika kept on saying, "Why is his head getting bigger?"  Well, we got home, got ice on it, got naps, then he managed to hit the other side of his head on the door that he and Annika were playing with (left side of the photo).  Ryan gets home, sees two bumps on his head, and says, "Well, he looks like a boy".  They have both now turned into two huge bruises on his head.  I love this little man.
PS-Don't you just love the ketchup face he has here.  He had a hot dog for dinner.  Yum!

One other cute thing about Ashton.  I hate this annoying American Idol, McDonald's Happy Meal Toy, but my boy has some moves.  Just Kidding!  He loves to dance and listen to music.  This video cracks me up.  He hands it to me every time it is done playing, I think he would play it over and over again, but I get too annoyed.

This Weekend . . .

Friday night we went to this yummy Mexican Restaurant for dinner called Red Iguana.  We have been hearing about it since we moved here.  It is on North Temple Road, there is always a line out the door, it is not much to look at from the outside, but it is delicious.  Ryan tried Mole for the first time-a Mexican chocolate sauce and it was yummy.  Their chili verde pork and their mole was hot and spicy, but the chicken and shredded beef were awesome.  We loved everything we tried.  And, if you are a Food Network nut like us, Guy Fietti sp???  from Diner's, Drive-ins and Dives is going to be there this week.  That tells you how popular this little hole in the wall is.

We also went to go see the Kennecott Copper Mine right by our house.  It was neat to see.  In these pictures, you can see how big the tires are compared to the kids, and then you can see that these HUGE trucks look like TONKA trucks from the lookout.  They are over on the right hand side of the photo, and are on the dirt that is kind of stacked up by layers.  Each tire costs $25,000, there are 6 on each truck and they change them every year.  I am glad my tires are not that much.  It was cool to go see and not far from our house, so that is even better considering the price of gas these days.

We found this awesome park.  Ryan always whines because he says parks are so boring.  I explain they are only boring for him, the kids love it and that is really the point of it.  I decided it is good he doesn't stay home with the kids, they would never get out of the house unless it was to a store or a museum.  I take them on walks and to the park for picnics.  I think they have more fun with me.  Anyways, this was the best park.  It even had fun stuff for Ryan and I-check out the video and  pics (The video is at the end, I still never do it right to get the video where I want it).

I scored a great deal at Maurices.  I needed some new casual, Summer pieces.  They were having a sale, buy one get one half off (score, perfect day to go).  Then I had just received a 20% off coupon in the mail that day and then I had $10 free for filling up a punch card with Michelle from our last trip there.  Score.  I saved about $60.00.

I messed up no bake cookies.  I really needed something sweet Sunday night after our walk, and I had the stuff to make no bake cookies. I made them a few weeks ago and they were delish.  But, I halved the recipe this time, and they all crumbled and would not set up together.  Bummer!

So, that was our weekend in a nut shell.  We love our Saturdays.  They are our family time and shopping day.  We usually do something fun together, and we get our groceries for the week.  We love spending time as a family!!!

What have we been up to!

Here are a few things that we have been up to . . . . . . . . .

A few weekends back we went to Gardner Village to see a petting zoo there.  Ashton loves any kind of animal, and he loved seeing all of them.  In fact he was usually looking at all the animals, so we did not get many pictures of his face.   Annika had a rough ride over there, so she was told to stay on the stroller, and would not be able to participate in the activity that day.  However, staying on the stroller ended up being too traumatic, since the pigs and goats decided they wanted to attack it and lick her feet.  So, she ended up screaming and crying and ended up waiting in the van for Ashton to finish looking around.  He loved every minute of it.

We have also been spending as much time outside as possible.  However, we have had 70 degree temperatures one day, and then snow the next.  So, you have to take advantage of somewhat warm days whenever possible.  These are pics of our trips to the parks around our house.  We sometimes pack picnics (with oranges as you can tell from the picture with Ashton), ride our bikes, walk, whatever, but we always have fun!

We also went and saw "Horton Hears A Who" last weekend.  I thought it was a cute movie, and Ashton actually did pretty good sitting through it.  I was laughing at it, and Annika liked all the silly people in it.

Anyone who knows me, know that when I was a little girl, I loved my easy bake oven.  I got one, I think when I was pregnant with Annika as a gift, and she loves it.  We looked up recipes online, and we actually found some that were decent.  These are pics of our cooking experience.
